Bob Davoli’s newest record - his fifth album in four years - presents a continuation of themes that most listeners will remember from his previous recordings, continuing observations of longing and wistfulness.

At the center of this record, and of all of Bob’s songs, is Bob himself: his life, his feelings, his memories, hopes, regrets, all filtered through a plaintive, passionate, and nakedly honest voice, which in turn is driven forward by sophisticated guitar voicings.

While all of Bob’s songs are deeply personal, they also have a universal quality, what’s usually referred to as the human condition. And isn’t this it? To still feel something that’s nowhere near? To be nowhere near? And also to be aware that nowhere is near, and getting nearer all the time.

Bob is accompanied on this album by Marty Ballou (string bass), Kevin Barry (guitar and dobro), Gabriela Martina (vocals), Kathleen Parks (fiddle and vocals), Guy Van Duser (guitar), and Jesse Williams (string bass).

Prine had an innate knack for finding just the right words to sculpt his stories and illuminate the essence of the emotions he seeks to convey. He wrote from his gut and aimed for your heart because that’s where most people live! His writing epitomizes the power and beauty of simplicity.

Several of my friends asked me to record some of my tunes from Wistfully Yours as a soloist and, although I was intrigued, I was also quite daunted knowing that there was no place to hide! Nonetheless, I persevered, and the album is just me singing lead and harmony and my guitar. I have always loved listening to simple two-part harmony as evidenced by the fact that growing up, I constantly listened to the Everly Brothers. I was totally enamored with their natural sounding blend and propulsive rhythmic pulse. I am relieved and glad that I was able to complete the project and I hope that you enjoy the music.
